Ian’s Story: Turning Low EPC Ratings into Smart Investments
Outstanding Service and Professionalism from RMS Energy
I highly recommend RMS Energy to anyone considering home energy efficiency improvements. They recently completed a major project involving house insulation, the installation of solar panels, and a new heat pump for us, and we are absolutely delighted with the results and the service we received.
From the very first consultation, RMS Energy was exceptionally professional and helpful. They guided us patiently through the whole process, explaining all the technical details and ensuring we were comfortable with every decision. The planning and communication were seamless, making a potentially complex project feel remarkably stress-free.
The professionalism of the workmen on site deserves a special, emphatic mention. Their dedication to high-quality work was evident in every aspect of the installation. They were skilled, meticulous, and left the site tidy each day. It’s clear that the company maintains a high standard for its entire crew.
While the entire team was brilliant, a special thank you goes to Kayleigh and Giovanni. They both went the extra mile for us, demonstrating an exceptional commitment that truly defines customer service.
Thank you, RMS Energy, for a brilliant, professional, and smoothly executed project!

Jane’s Story: Brilliant company, highly recommend.
This company came out to install solar panels under the Warmer Homes initiative for us. Cannot fault anyone, from the admin who organised the installation to all the superb workmen who came out on the day to do the work. They worked so hard all day and were friendly, polite and professional. The install itself has been so perfectly done, neat and very tidy. We are very happy and can’t thank you enough.

Denise Story: Shaun from RMS came to see me after I applied for a grant to upgrade my heating system and put solar panels on my roof. He explained the application process and along with the surveyor came up with a plan.
I was really impressed with the plans which included applying for planning permission as I live in a conservation village. RMS sorted all this out for me, which was great. The communication was excellent so I knew what was happening and when. The dates were set for the work to begin and everything went as planned from the scaffolding being erected, to the work men arriving on time and getting on with the work.
The roofers and electricians were all lovely, they explained what they were doing at every stage. They cleared up after the work was completed and took away all the packaging. Overall I found the whole process from start to finish seamless, the work was of a very high quality and I feel the team went over and above to make my experience trouble free and smooth.
I’m thrilled with the end results and would highly recommend RMS to anyone who is considering applying for a green energy grant.

Improving your home’s energy performance can boost its appeal, increase its value, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
An EPC shows how energy-efficient your home is, rated from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient). Free funding is designed for homes with lower ratings — typically D, E, F, or G — as these properties benefit the most from upgrades. Your EPC helps determine your eligibility for the scheme.
Normally these are a government-backed schemes designed to help households improve their energy efficiency at little to no cost. No, you don’t have to go through your energy supplier directly. RMS Energy works with approved partners and installers across the UK to deliver funded improvements to eligible households, regardless of who supplies your gas or electricity.
Obligated Suppliers are the larger energy companies required by law to fund upgrades. This includes well-known Energy suppliers such as British Gas, EDF, E.ON, Octopus Energy, and others. They provide funding, which companies like RMS Energy use to install energy-saving upgrades in qualifying homes.
After installation, you should receive documents confirming what work was carried out, product warranties, and any certifications (such as building control or manufacturer paperwork). RMS Energy ensures all installations are fully compliant and that you receive everything you need for your records.
From your initial application to completed installation, the process typically takes a few weeks. This includes a home assessment, approval of funding, and booking your installation date.
Yes. The Warm Homes Scheme is run directly through local councils and focuses on improving energy efficiency in lower income or hard to heat homes. Although it shares similar goals with other schemes, it differs in a few key ways:
Improvements can be fully funded or heavily subsidised depending on your circumstances
By contrast, other schemes like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme or ECO may have different rules, funding levels, and installation measures. The Warm Homes Scheme is designed to provide broader support for making homes warmer and more efficient.
Landlords must ensure their rental properties meet the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES), which currently require an EPC rating of at least E. Gov grants can help landlords improve the efficiency of their properties, keeping tenants comfortable and reducing future compliance costs.
